This workshop is part of the Sydney Craft Week 2018 Program.
Sew Make Create will be hosting a community sewing bees with Boomerang Bags Inner West as part of Craft Week. This workshop is free if you would like to contribute a bit of your time to join the local community. Please still make a booking to register for the event as spaces are limited. Find our otherĀ sewing bee date here.
Boomerang Bags Inner West in a community organisation where volunteers sew bags from donated fabric and fabric destined for landfill. These bags are given away for free to local businesses in the Inner West and Dulwich Hill areas of Sydney to encourage the sustainable practice of plastic-bag-free shopping.
You can still help make bags if you cannot operate a sewing machine by assisting with cutting fabric and assembly. And if you do know how to sew, you can hop on a machine to stitch up some bags. This sewing bee is suitable for beginner-level sewists. And you are welcome to take home a Boomerang Bag.
We are also looking for donations of durable, non-stretch, cotton type fabrics to make more bags. We can help clear your fabric stash of any unwanted fabric. We would prefer unwanted and offcuts of fabrics as opposed to purchasing new fabrics.
This event is FREE, but please make a booking. Your booking will be confirmed by email.
