With Katy Dee from the Sydney Etsy Team and Stitchester
Crafters, Makers, Sewers, Knitters and Crocheter! Join us to make a softie for a Mirabel kid!
Softies for Mirabel is an annual handmade toy drive which started 7 years ago by crafter, author and blogger, Pip Lincolne. This year is the 8th annual Softies for Mirabel Foundation, a foundation that supports kids who are affected by parental substance abuse. Come and have fun with us and create a toy and we will send them to Melbourne, Victoria to be matched with a Mirabel kid. For all the details visit Pip’s blog, Meet Me at Mikes.
Sew Make Create has joined forces with the Sydney Etsy Team again to bring you this fun workshop for a good cause. We’re delighted to have Sydney Etsy Team Leader, Katy Dee from Stitchester hosting the workshop to give you a helping hand and inspire you with her fun softie creations. The toy can be sewn, knitted, crocheted…. but it has to be handmade. They do not want new or donated items. Even the donation of 1 toy will brighten the day for 1 child.
Spaces are limited so bookings are required for this workshop. We will be asking for a $4 donation to put towards the cost of postage to get all the finished softies down to Melbourne, Victoria. Please bring along your preferred choice of materials and crafting accessories. We will have a small supply of fabric pieces that can be recycled and turned into toys, and basic sewing tools. There will also be sewing machines available for use. Create your own design or use one of the patterns we will have available.
Not able to make our workshop but want to help out and still make softies?
The annual toy drive is for everyone and anyone can participate. Make your own softies at home or organise your own Softies for Mirabel Foundation crafting session. We will happily accept handmade softie toys and send yours off with our collection if you don’t have time to send them off yourself. You can drop them off at the Sew Make Create shop, click here for our opening hours.
