With Tanja
This introductory beginners sewing class will teach you all the basics to get you started on the sewing machine! You will learn the parts and features of a sewing machine, how to set up the machine, the different stitches, settings and seams and how to solve common sewing problems. The beginner sewing lessons covers sewing techniques including: how to do button holes, finish a raw edge and stitch a hem. This is to prepare you for the goal project – a cushion cover! You will learn about preparing and cutting fabric, how to use and read patterns, then make your own cushion cover.
This workshop is now fully booked, but you can contact us to be put on the wait list in case any spots become available.
The course fee includes a Sewer’s Starter pack valued at RRP$36 which is made up of a pair of fabric scissors, thread clippers, dress pins, tape measure, tailor marking pencils, hand sewing needles, thread and a cushion insert. For your cushion cover, please bring a 40cm long fabric piece of your choice with 4 matching buttons.

“The teacher Tanja was lovely, she was super patient and helpful when me and other classmates got stuck, we had alot of laughs and I gained so much from this class!
We were provided a beginner’s sewing pack, they even provided me with left handed scissors! We were also given calico to practice our stitches on, and the sewing machines were super easy to use and learn. The venue is quite intimate but a lovely clean studio space, I am happily looking into my next class!”

“I cannot express in words how thankful I am to our teacher Tanya for her knowledge & patience with me at the Beginners Sewing Class.
On arrival I was nervous, anxious & uncertain as to whether a 55 yr old could be taught a new skill. With Tanya’s reassurance, guidance & encouragement, I learnt how to sew & for that, i am incredibly thankful. I look forward to attending more classes to broaden my knowledge & confidence.”
