Make a fold-over, zipper clutch and zipper pouch in this 2 class, sewing workshop. Learn how to create functional, fun and fashionable accessories while mastering sewing zippers. These designs are quick to sew up for when you need to make a handmade gift, a clutch to match an outfit or to use up some small fabric pieces. This workshop is a perfect introduction to sewing regular zippers in a small-sized class of no more than 4 students.
You will make a small, flat-based pouch, approximately 20 x 14 cm. Our pattern is for a fully lined, zipper pouch for a neat, professional finish, and you can also add a small pocket on the inside. The perfect zipper pouch for anything – keepsakes, make up, sewing tools, jewellery and more.
The second design in a zipper clutch in a fold-over design, making it compact while holding all your belongings safely inside. Make it casual or dressy, it is approximately 24 x 16.5 cm folded and 24 x 29 cm flat. You can choose to arrange your fabric in a few different designs. It is fully lined to teach you professional, finishing techniques.
You will need to bring along your own choice of fabrics and matching zippers. All patterns and thick, sew-in interfacing is provided. Black and cream coloured vinyl (look-a-like leather) are available for purchase.
Please note, you need to have recent sewing experience to attend this workshop. This workshop is suitable for sewists of beginner-level or more. You should be of at least beginner level, and able to set up and operate a sewing machine independently. Safety in our workshop: Due to the recent pandemic of COVID-19 we endeavour to make our workshop as safe as possible for our workshop attendees, Teachers and customers. Spaces available for each class have been reduced to follow the current government guidelines so workshop attendees can be a safe distance apart. Every workshop attendee and Teacher will be required to use hand sanitiser on arrival. And all used surfaces and tools will be disinfected after every class. Catherine has been sewing as far back as she can remember. She graduated with honours at East Sydney Technical College, Darlinghurst with a diploma in “Fashion Design”. She established (many years ago) and is still running a successful business, “Catherine Carter”, specialising in made to measure garments, she is still as passionate as ever. Catherine enjoys sharing her enthusiasm, knowledge and creativity and finds it extremely rewarding seeing the progress that each person makes.
