With Samantha Groth
Let’s learn how to crochet cute things! Our kids and teens workshop will teach them crochet basics to crochet their own adorable whale toy and headband. They will have fun using plush chenille yarn for their creations. Crochet is a great challenge for young minds, and the possibilities are endless when they know how to do the basic stitches.
In this workshop they will learn some basic and common stitches, how to hold the crochet hook, how to hold and work with the yarn, and how to read crochet patterns. They will start with making a headband or wrist cuff to practice their stitches, learn how to stitch in rows, how to change colours and tie off their yarn ends. Then they will learn how to crochet in the round to create their own whale, a basic introduction to the craft of Amigurumi crochet. They will be taught how to crochet in 3D by increasing and decreasing their stitches, plus learn how to add features to their creature like fins and facial features to create character.
With the skills they learn in this workshop they can then go on to attempt more difficult patterns for toys, accessories, blankets, clothing, and even come up with their own designs!
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or those that already know how to crochet, and for ages 9 years old and up. All tools and materials are provided.
Please get in touch if you need to drop your child off prior to 9:30am, or pick them up later than 3:00pm. We can try to offer extended care, but an additional fee will apply.
