Sewing Machine and Studio Hire

Sew Make Create is about getting creative and building a community, that’s why we would love for you to hang out in our workshop and get busy!
Do you need a sewing machine for special project?
Need an overlocker for an hour to stitch over some raw edges?
Don’t have space for a sewing machine at home?
Has your machine broken down and you need a replacement machine?
Want to start your own sewing social group but don’t have a venue or enough machines?
The Sew Make Create workshop is equipped with Janome domestic sewing machines and overlockers for hire by the hour. Also included in the hire rates, is use of our fabric cutting tables, basic sewing tools, dress mannequins, irons and ironing boards. Bookings are required.
You must have recent experience of using a sewing machine or overlocker previously to hire or use one of our machines and be of at least beginner’s level. This is for safety reasons. Please attend our Introduction to Sewing Course if you need a refresher or would like to learn.
What can I use?
• Mechanical sewing machines
Models: Janome MW3018/MyExcel18W, Janome MS5027 and Bernina Nova
• Computerised sewing machines (sorry, no embroidery sewing machines)
Models: Janome DC2150 & Janome Sewist 780DC
• Overlocker Models: Janome 8002DX – similar to the Janome 8004D, Ezy Lock 604D – similar to the Janome MyLock 644D, and Bernette
• Basics sewing tools e.g fabric scissors, pins, tape measure etc.
• Fabric cutting table
• Domestic iron and ironing board
• Dress mannequins
Sorry we do not have for use or hire embroidery sewing machines, industrial sewing machines or coverstitch machines.
How much does it cost?
Minimum hire time is 1 hour. To hire a machine for 1 hour it is $22, then $17 per hour after the 1st hour (calculated in 30 minute increments).
Need a sewing machine for more than a few hours or days?
If you would like to take home a sewing machine or overlocker to hire by the day or week, please contact us. Sewing machine hire by the day starts at $27 per day and we have weekly rates.
How to hire?
Bookings are required for hiring machines to make sure the workshop and equipment is available, but you are not committed to the exact time duration period booked, or for machine pick up – Sometimes projects take longer than we expect!
