This course is the perfect introduction to dressmaking, garment sewing and a great project for beginner level sewists and more advanced. Over 1 day you will make yourself a simple skirt. You will cover how to read dress patterns, do basic pattern alterations to fit your measurements, cut and prepare fabric for sewing, then sew a skirt with waistband or facing with a zipper to fit you!
Your skirt will have a zipper, either a concealed/invisible zipper or a regular, lapped zipper. Learn the tips and techniques for your future clothes making projects! You will get to cut, fit and sew a skirt for yourself. Select from a few of skirt styles that will be provided, then bring along your own beautiful fabric to create a simple skirt. Choose from a classic A-line skirt, a pleated tulip skirt or simple pencil skirt.
Join our small-sized class with a maximum of 4 students. Sewing machines, overlockers and basic sewing tools are provided.
Please note, you need to have recent sewing experience to attend this workshop. You should be of at least beginner level, and able to set up and operate a sewing machine independently. About Catherine Carter
Catherine has been sewing as far back as she can remember. She graduated with honours at East Sydney Technical College, Darlinghurst with a diploma in “Fashion Design”. She established (many years ago) and is still running a successful business, “Catherine Carter”, specialising in made to measure garments, she is still as passionate as ever. Catherine enjoys sharing her enthusiasm, knowledge and creativity and finds it extremely rewarding seeing the progress that each person makes.
