Make a fold-over, zipper clutch and zipper pouch in this full day, sewing workshop. Learn how to create functional, fun and fashionable accessories while mastering sewing zippers. These designs are quick to sew up for when you need to make a handmade gift, a clutch to match an outfit or to use up some small fabric pieces. This workshop is a perfect introduction to sewing regular zippers in a small-sized class of no more than 4 students.
You will make a small, flat-based pouch, approximately 20 x 14 cm. Our pattern is for a fully lined, zipper pouch for a neat, professional finish, and you can also add a small pocket on the inside. The perfect zipper pouch for anything – keepsakes, make up, sewing tools, jewellery and more.
The second design in a zipper clutch in a fold-over design, making it compact while holding all your belongings safely inside. Make it casual or dressy, it is approximately 24 x 16.5 cm folded and 24 x 29 cm flat. You can choose to arrange your fabric in a few different designs. It is fully lined to teach you professional, finishing techniques.
You will need to bring along your own choice of fabrics and matching zippers. All patterns and heavy, sew-in interfacing is provided.
Please note, you need to have recent sewing experience to attend this workshop. This workshop is suitable for sewists of beginner-level or more. You should be of at least beginner level, and able to set up and operate a sewing machine independently. Catherine is a sewing professional with more than 30 years’ experience in the Theatre & TV industries worldwide. After completing an Associate Diploma in Production & Design (WAAPA), Catherine specialised in Wardrobe Supervising and Costume Construction, working with costume teams around the world to create designs for both stage and screen. With a genuine passion for connecting with people and sharing sewing skills, Catherine has a particular interest in teaching people how to create and take care of their own clothing.
